Simultaneous Interpreting

Learn about our mission and vision.

Simultaneous Interpretation

Simultaneous Interpreting, unlike written translation, is not a literal translation of the original. It is not in written form at all, and it is not certified. Simultaneous interpreting is the transmission of a spoken message from one language to another in real time. Precision and effectiveness are acquired through the use of audiovisual or telecommunication aiding tools.

Our Simultaneous  interpreting services use hi-tech devices at every conference. During a Simultaneous Interpretation, the following tools may  be required:  anti-talk cabin for the interpreter, translator´s console with microphone, base transmitter, wireless FM receptors with volume and earphone selection, wireless microphone and mixer.

International Conferences

Additionally, some events require Simultaneous Interpretation for more than 4 hours. Here, at least two interpreters must be available. This is because translating simultaneously requires huge mental efforts. It is equally important for interpreters to access documentation or bibliographic material regarding the topic to be translated, previous to the event. This is due to the specificity or technicality of the event. The interpreter must be familiar to specialized terminology. The interpreter studies the content of the conference. This eliminates possible ambiguities regarding terms and context.   This way, the interpreter may be more loyal to transmitting the original message.

The technical logistics during our interpreting Services are crucial. It takes time and organization to install translation equipment. This setup takes approximately 2 hours, which are considered previous to the event, preferably the day before. A technician is in charge of manipulating the equipment and providing support in distributing and collecting translation equipment at the beginning and end of the event.

When Simultaneous Interpreting is one-on-one, translation equipment is not necessary. In these cases, the translation is done based on the client´s needs and is called consecutive interpreting. Consecutive interpreting is done in small groups where one person speaks, then waits for the interpreter to translate, and then continues. Whispered translation is another type of interpretation service, where the interpreter whispers in the person´s ear in the target language.

We cater to companies hosting events such as congresses, conventions, seminars, conferences, fairs, in foreign languages.  Even if you are holding or attending an event outside the United States and need Simultaneous Interpretation, our Simultaneous Interpretation service delivers your message. Take your message in Spanish, French, or Portuguese, to English speaking audiences or more.
